Tulsa Airport
Well, we took our son to the Tulsa airport to drop him off for his flight in the wee hours of the morning. We saw a couple of signs & started to take one direction, but at the last minute our son told us that we needed to take the other direction, so we did. We came to an overpass that said low clearance, but Charles kept on going because he thought it was high enough for our unit. It tore up the two coverings to our A/C units, and the one satellite. Charles & I were able to buy new coverings for the A/C units and install them ourselves, because the A/C units still worked. But we had to protect the satellite dish from any possible moisture, just in case it still worked. What do you think about our "redneck" way of protecting it?!?! We wrapped the workings with a plastic bag, then put a plastic table cloth over that, then the 2 large broken pieces of plastic covering on, then duct tape & bunji cords! It kept it protected and dry because it stayed on very well. But, when we got to Quartzsite we had it tested, and the satelitte dish was destroyed. :-( Well, hopefully that was a lesson learned. Better to stop, even if other cars are behind you, unhook, then back out than take a chance!!! We need at least 13 feet clearance!

That sucks. What was the posted height of the overpass? Is your sat dish a slimline traveler? I'm surprised if it was folded down how the air conditioners survived.
ReplyDeleteIt just had "low clearance" but don't remember any height shown. Not sure what a slimline traveler is, it was a large dome on top. (Sorry for the delay, I just noticed that there was a comment.)
