Seaside, OR

We spent time in Seaside, OR. It's a beautiful little town in the NW corner of OR. This is the first town I have been to that has bowls of water on the sidewalk for the dogs! Even though Gracie would not drink any of it, what a great idea! Apparently she only wants HER water, because she drank a lot from her cup when we got back to the car. Picky, picky!

The Lewis & Clark expedition - this was the end of the trail for them. I didn't know that previously.

On a Saturday they had the "Hood to Coast" race, the "largest relay race in the world." It was a 197 mile race, and they had teams, so each team member wound up running between 16-25 miles each (8-10 miles at a time), just depending on their endurance, etc. It started in the Portland, OR, area, and ended here. After the race, they all celebrated with their friends & family, and I understand there was a big party on the beach that night. When we were there in the afternoon there was already a big party going on with a live band and dance, drinking and eating. It was an exciting time.

We drove to Cannon Beach one day. Nothing there except a gorgeous ocean and a small town with several tourist shops. We walked a long way on the beach, Gracie played with other dogs, and we all had a great time.
